Ireneu also known as Neil, was separated from his wife. Married in 1999, he left the family home in Camberley in August 2002. Having previously been accused of assaulting her, he was served with a non-molestation order. And was ordered by the court not to go with 500 yards of her home.

8th January 2003, Paula - his estranged wife, was visiting with their son for a contact visit, this was unusual, as they normally met in a public place. when she arrived he Attacked her with a knife inflicting 67 different stab wounds to her neck and upper body. He then ripped the wedding ring from her finger, and left the home in Woking, Surrey with his two-year-old son Isaac.

I16th September 2003, He pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the start of the trial, but claimed that he had been provoked into killing his wife. The jury did not accept this claim.

His Honour Judge Stewart commented that the jury had heard overwhelming evidence of murder. He described the attack on Paula as, “merciless, ferocious and vicious. “ Injai was sentenced to life imprisonment.
