A severed left leg, with
foot still attached, was
discovered in a green Gulliver bag in a lay-by off the
A507 near Cottered in Hertfordshire.
Monday 30th March 2009,
Walkers found part of a human arm in a grass verge in
Drovers Lane, Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire,
The forearm, which was
missing the hand, was found without clothing and was not
contained in anything.
Tuesday 31st March 2009,
A human head is found In
a field next to Hoby Road in Asfordby, Leicestershire
Friday 3rd April 2009,
Police reveal that they have forensically linked the
head to the other body parts
Tuesday 7th April 2009,
Hertfordshire Police were called at 12:45pm after a
member of the public found a right leg near a lay-by on
the A10 Puckeridge bypass. The leg was some 20 feet back
from the lay-by. Police are carrying out tests to see if
it matches the other body parts already found.
Saturday 11th April
2009, Gore Lane, Standon, Hertfordshire, a torso
found in a ditch near to the A10 had the right arm and
upper left arm attached. Police confirmed it matches the
other body parts already found
Tuesday14th April 2009,
Police confirmed that the man was stabbed in the back
with a large knife that pierced the body cavity, he had
been stabbed twice, one piercing the ling, this was the
fatal blow.
21st April, 2009,
2 people arrested on suspicion of murder.
23rd April 2009,
Jeffrey Howe a 49 year old kitchen salesman from
Southgate in North London, is named as the victim.
24th April 2009,
The 2 arrested people have been named as Stephen Thomas
Marshall aged 37, from Ayot Path in Borehamwood and Sarah
Bush aged 20, from Pickard Close in London.
Saturday 25th April
2009, Marshall and Bush appear at Stevenage
Magistrates court charged with murder.
Friday 1st May 2009,
Marshall and Bush appeared via video link at St. Albans
crown court, and were charged with murdering Jeffery
Howe between 7th and 22nd March 2009. they were remanded
in custody.
Monday, 19th October
2009, Marshall and Bush both appeared by video
link at St Albans crown court charged with murder, both
denied the charge.
Tuesday 12th January
2010, At St Albans crown court, Marshall admitted
dismembering the body but denies murder.
Sarah bush also denied
murder.
But,
Marshall pleaded
guilty to two counts of perverting the course of justice
by giving false information about the whereabouts of Mr
Howe when police were conducting a missing person
investigation and by dismembering his body and disposing
of the parts in different places to impede the
investigation.
He also pleaded guilty to intending to prevent a coroner
from holding an inquest by disposing of the body in
various locations across the two counties.
Monday 1st February
2010, Marshall found guilty of murder. he must serve
at least 36 years for the killing of Jeffrey Howe. His
partner Sarah Bush must serve three years for perverting
the course of justice.
the court also heard that
Marshall, who had links to London's infamous Adams crime
family, cut up bodies in the 1990s.
Shortly before he was sentenced, Marshall's barrister
said Marshall had explained to him how he dismembered
the bodies of four unidentified men who had been killed
earlier. Hertfordshire police are to investigate
these claims.
