FACTFILE

Sunday 7th January 2010, A very drunk Helen Lawson fired both barrels of a shotgun at point blank range into her husbands chest and abdomen, killing him instantly, she then calmly called the emergency services.

She claimed he was "hell to live with". She had access to guns as was a keen clay pigeon shooter, and held a gun licence.

Monday 22nd March 2010, Trial of Helen Lawson starts at Winchester Crown Court.

The jury was told that she put the bedroom light on, then she called out her husband's name to make sure he was awake, then she shot him, with both barrels.

Tuesday 30th March 2010, Helen Lawson admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility but was convicted of murder.

Mr Justice Sweeney told her she would serve a minimum 15 years for the cold-blooded killing at the home she and her third husband shared in Wellow, Isle of Wight.
