Sunday 17th April 2009, Entwistle's Ex-partner
Claire Atkinson, was found dead in the front passenger
seat of a Hyundai car when it crashed in Thornton
Cleveleys. Police were called by paramedics and it was
established that her injuries were not caused by the
impact of the collision. Claire was found with multiple
stab wounds to the chest.
Entwistle was arrested at
the scene of the crash after the vehicle hit a Land
Rover Discovery.
Saturday, 25 April 2009,
Entwistle was remanded in custody by Blackpool
magistrates court.
Tuesday 22nd December
2009, Entwistle admitted murder.
He had previously been
charged with kidnapping his ex-partner Miss Atkinson a
month before the murder.
Preston crown court heard
that he had told her: "If I cannot have you then no one
else can."
On the day of the murder Entwistle stalked her as she
walked home from work. He then coaxed her into his car
and stabbed her 13 times in the heart and chest in the
passenger seat.
Entwistle was sentenced to
a minimum of 20 years 298 days.
