Deng Majek – Murder of Rhiannon Whyte:

July 2024 —  Majek Arrival in the UK
• Deng Majek arrived in the UK on a small boat.
• He was placed in the Park Inn Hotel in Walsall, used to house asylum seekers.
• Rhiannon Whyte, aged-27, worked at the same hotel.

20 October 2024 (Evening) — Premeditation
• Majek spent the evening watching and staring at Rhiannon in the hotel.
• He waited for her shift to end.

Late Night, 20 October 2024 — The Attack
• Majek followed Rhiannon from the hotel to Walsall train station.
• He was armed with a screwdriver.
• He stabbed her 23 times in a frenzied, unprovoked attack.

23 October 2024 — Rhiannon Dies
• Rhiannon died in hospital three days after the attack.

October 2025 — Guilty Verdict
• After a two‑week trial, Majek was found guilty of murder.
• Evidence included CCTV, blood on his clothes, DNA under his fingernail, and CCTV of him laughing after the attack. 

One of the witnesses during the trialwas forensic scientist Elizabeth Simpson, who told the jury that Whyte's blood had been found on clothes, shoes and a ring worn by Majek.

• Majek claimed he was 19.
• However, Documents from Germany suggested he was aged-27.
• Assessments concluded he was between 25–28 years of age; The judge sentenced him as 26.

30 January 2026 — Sentencing
• Majek received life imprisonment with a minimum term of 29 years. He will be elligable for parole in July 2052.
• Judge cited premeditation, brutality, disposal of evidence, and lack of remorse.

Family Statements;
• Rhiannon’s mother described her as the gentlest, softest person.
• Her sister now raises Rhiannon’s young son.
