Friday 4th
February 2005, Shirley Oliver had gone for a night
out at a local club. while there she bumped into
brothers Stuart & Christopher Jones, the brothers were
known to her as her daughter had previously gone out
with another brother. Apparently Mrs Oliver's daughter
had her car fixed at the expense of the other Jones
brother, it seems the two defendants were not aware that
this money may have been returned.
Saturday
5th February 2005,
Mrs Oliver and the Jones brother were seen on CCTV
leaving the club and getting into a Vauxhall Corsa owned
by Christopher Jones.
Mrs Oliver sat
in the front passenger seat with Stuart Jones sitting
behind her, along the route Jones attacked Mrs Oliver
from behind, They drove down an alleyway, where the
Jones brothers stamped on her strangled her and drove
off leaving her for dead.
Mrs Oliver's
badly beaten body was discovered by a passer-by on there
way to work at 5:30am.
Monday 19rh
December 2005, Christopher Jones, who denied murder,
claimed he was driving at the time of the attack, But
the court heard forensic evidence that a footprint from
one of his trainers was found on Mrs Oliver's body.
Christopher Jones found guilty of the murder of Mrs Shirley
Oliver at Cardiff Crown Court. Stuart Oliver had already
previously admitted to the murder,.
Wednesday
21st December 2005, Both men were sentenced to life,
with the judge setting a minimum 15 year term for Stuart
Jones, brother Christopher was sentenced to 13 years.
