11th January 1997, 9-yea-old Zoe Evans was tucked
up in bed for the night by her mother Paula.
during the night, Evans took the young girl from her
bed, punched her and took her to the woods where he
sexually assaulted her, shoving clothing into her mouth
to stop her screaming. He then attempted a crude burial
before returning home as if nothing had happened.
Days after the
little girls disappearance Evans with the girls mother
Paula Hamilton, made a tearful TV appeal asking for
information on the missing girl.
1997, 9-year-old Zoe Evans naked body found in a badger
sett near Battlesbury Hill, about half a mile from the
examination showed that Zoe died from asphyxiation, her
tee-shirt had been pushed into her mouth to stop her
screaming. She had also been sexually assaulted.
1998, Evans sentenced to life imprisonment, with a
recommended minimum term of 17 years.
2002, Evans lost his right to appeal.
