Indian
student Anuj Bidve was in the UK studying at Lancaster
University. Over the Christmas holidays he had gone to
visit friends in Manchester.
Monday 26th
December 2011,
Anuj Bidve was walking along Ordsall Lane
in Salford, with friends, when he was shot at point
blank range in the head.
Monday
2nd January 2012,
20 year old
Kiaran Stapleton appeared at Manchester Magistrates
court charged with murder. When asked his name he said
'Psycho Stapleton.
Tuesday 3rd
January 2012, Stapleton appeared via video link from
prison, at Manchester Crown Court,
the Judge,
Michael Henshell, remanded him in custody.
While remanded
at HMP Manchester he attacked another prisoner who had a
reputation with other inmates.
Friday 1st
June 2012, At Manchester Crown court Stapleton
pleaded not guilty to murder, but guilty of
manslaughter.
Thursday
26th July 2012, Kiaran Stapleton is found guilty of
murder.
He admitted
manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility
but the jury rejected that plea and convicted him of
murder.
Friday 27th
July 2012, Stapleton is jailed for a minimum of 30
years.
The judge
said: "In my judgment, this was no impulsive act on
your part. It was a piece of cold-blooded controlled
aggression... You have behaved in a way demonstrating
that you are positively boastful about having killed Mr
Bidve"
