10th September 2008,, Crawford killed his
landlord, then wrapped his body in a rug and pinned it
behind a bookcase.
The men had met on holiday
and Ryan had offered Crawford a place to stay at his
Devonshire road house in Sutton, South London.
After a while Ryan
started to suspect Crawford of taking money from his
internet bank account.
The body was discovered
several days later.Post--mortem tests showed he died
from a series of blows to the head.
Crawford then fled to
Thailand with over £7,000 of Ryan's money.
August 2010,
Crawford was arrested in the costal resort of Pattaya,
Thailand,after an extradition warrant had been issued.
Tuesday 18th January
2011, Crawford extradited, and arrives in the
UK, on his arrival he is charged with the murder of
Michael Ryan.
Monday 26th September
2011, Trial starts at the Old Bailey. Crawford
denies murder and claims self defence.
Tuesday 4th October 2011,
Crawford is found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey in
London.
Wednesday 5th October
2011, Crawford is sentenced to life imprisonment
with a recommendation he serve at least 26 years.
