FACTFILE

2000, Geraldine Sureda invited her son for a weekend stay at her home in Mitcham, Surrey, to give him a break from the routines at Springfield Mental hospital.

The paranoid schizophrenic believed his mum was part of a plot to kill him, a plan hatched by the Labour party.

22nd  December 2007 Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe was attacked again, fellow inmate Sureda lunged at him with a metal cutlery knife while shouting "You fucking raping, murdering bastard, I'll blind your fucking other one." Sutcliffe flung himself backwards and the blade missed his right eye by half a inch, instead stabbing him in the cheek.

9th April 2009, At The Old Bailey in London, Sureda was finally sentenced for murdering his mother. He was ordered to spend the rest of his life in a mental institution.

20th November 2009, Sureda charged with stabbing Sutcliffe, but, the judge ruled he was not fit to submit a plea. The jury at Reading Crown Court found Sureda guilty of wounding Sutcliffe with intent.

Judge Zoe Smith ruled that Sureda should continue to be detained under the Mental Health Act as he is a danger to the public.
She said: "Mr Sureda poses a grave and immediate risk to the safety of others."
