November 2007, Kate Prout made several phone calls, but this
was the last time she was seen, or heard alive. The estranged
couple were in dispute over divorce settlements.
Prout claimed
that on bonfire night they had a huge row after she
asked for a bigger divorce settlement. He says after the
row she stormed out and he never saw her again. In fact
he murdered her and buried her body behind the barn on
his farm.
Friday 5th
February 2010, At Bristol Crown Court, Adrian Prout is
found guilty, a majority verdict of 10 to 1, he is jailed for life for
the murder of his estranged wife Kate, with a
recommendation he serve a minimum 18 years.
September
2011, Paid for by his loving and trusting fiancée,
Debbie Garlic, a polygraph test was arranged to prove
Prout's innocence.
But, he failed
the lie-detector, which was administered by British and
European Polygraph Association chairman Don Cargill. Mr
Cargil said “I said, ‘You’re a murderer.’ He just said
‘Ummmh.’ So I said, ‘Are you saying my test is wrong?’
“He actually replied, ‘No, your test is not wrong.’”
Ms Garlic had
headed up a huge campaign to free Prout, who continued
to state his innocence, but one the lie-detector results
came out Prout was stuck, and decided to confess all.
Friday 18th
November 2011, Adrian Prout admits to the murder,
and shows police the place on his large 275 acre estate,
Redhill Farm,,
where the body is buried. Police erect
screens. and start digging.
Monday 21st
November 2011, Police use ground-penetrative radar
to search the area of woodland pointed out to them by
Prout.
Up to 15
detectives were onsite, these include scenes of crime
officers and forensic archaeologist's, as well as police
sniffer dogs. they searched an area of approximately 33-66ft.
Thursday
25th November,. at 1pm police confirmed, after 4
days of digging, human remains had been discovered.
Friday 25th
November 2011, police confirm that the remains found
were those of Kate Prout. The body had to be identified
via dental records.
